Activists and other protesters on Wednesday stormed the head office of MTN Nigeria in Abuja over the high cost of telecom services.
The protest, led by activist Omoyele Sowore, saw demonstrators chanting slogans and expressing dissatisfaction with the company’s service delivery.
At the premises, the protesters demanded immediate action over what they described as exploitative pricing and poor service quality.
One of the protesters said MTN should halt what he described as excessive charges and improve the quality of its services to Nigerians.
He also cited complaints from subscribers who allegedly paid for data services but did not receive the value for their money.
According to him, such experiences reflect the frustration of many Nigerians using the network.
The demonstration comes amid growing concerns over the cost and reliability of telecom services in the country.
Meanwhile, the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has announced plans to picket South African-owned businesses, including MTN and MultiChoice.
The student body said the planned action is also in response to ongoing xenophobic attacks in South Africa.
