Veteran Osun State politician, Alhaji Moshood Olalekan Adeoti, has taken a recess from political activities following the campaign that preceded the re-election victory of Governor Ademola Adeleke.
This was contained in a press statement made available to Amiloaded by the media office of Adeoti.
According to the statement, Adeoti played an active role in the political activities, consultations, mobilisation and campaign engagements that culminated in Adeleke’s re-election.
The statement said the campaign period required considerable time, energy and personal sacrifice from political stakeholders, adding that Adeoti was among those who worked tirelessly towards the desired outcome.
Adeoti, a former State Chairman of the Alliance for Democracy (AD), Action Congress (AC) and All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun, also served as Secretary to the State Government and contested the 2018 Osun State governorship election.
The statement described him as a loyal, humble, principled and straightforward politician who has maintained relationships across political divides.
It said Adeoti decided to temporarily step back from political activities to rest, reflect and recharge after the demanding election season.
The media office, however, clarified that the recess should not be interpreted as Adeoti’s withdrawal from politics.
According to the statement, Adeoti is expected to remain politically prepared for the forthcoming presidential election as Nigeria approaches another major political season.
It added that although the veteran politician had not publicly disclosed the presidential candidate or political platform he would support, his eventual decision was expected to attract interest from political observers and stakeholders.
Part of the statement reads, “As Nigeria gradually moves towards another major political season, Alhaji Moshood Olalekan Adeoti is expected to remain available and politically prepared for the forthcoming presidential election.
“Although he has not openly disclosed the presidential candidate or political platform he intends to support, his eventual decision is expected to generate considerable interest among political observers and stakeholders.
“For now, the veteran politician is taking a breath after a demanding political season.
“It is a recess, not a retirement. The next political chapter awaits.”
