The founder of Light Nation Church, Femi Lazarus, has warned men against relationships where wives control their husbands, insisting that women should submit to their husbands according to biblical teachings.
The pastor made the statement while speaking about marriage and some behaviours he claimed have become increasingly common among couples.
Femi Lazarus argued that men should not describe themselves as “woke” if they allow their wives to disregard their authority in marriage.
According to him, couples should not twist what the Bible teaches about the roles of husbands and wives.
He said any marriage where the woman controls the husband goes against biblical teachings, adding that women who are unwilling to submit to their husbands should not get married.
Lazarus also criticised men who consider themselves “woke” because they allow their wives to openly reject the idea of submitting to their husbands, describing such men as weak.
He maintained that the biblical teachings on marriage should not be altered, stressing that husbands are expected to love their wives while wives are expected to submit to their husbands.
The pastor also expressed concern over reports of domestic violence and troubling incidents involving couples, urging men to pay attention to their partners’ behaviour.
He referenced a case involving a woman who allegedly killed her children, claiming that some women had publicly expressed support for her.
Femi Lazarus further warned men against normalising abusive behaviour from their partners, noting that some husbands laugh off threats and physical aggression from their wives.
He urged couples to take such behaviours seriously rather than dismissing them as part of a partner’s temperament.
