A video showing the moment a group of women resisted officials of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) from disconnecting their electricity wires despite poor power supply has gone viral on social media.
In the video, the women, who spoke in Yoruba, lamented that they had not had electricity for three months, yet officials still attempted to disconnect their wires, adding that the situation had forced them to sleep outside.
The enraged women stood by the ladder brought by the officials, preventing them from climbing the pole to disconnect the power supply.
When one of the officials attempted to push one of the women, others quickly surrounded him.
The video has generated mixed reactions online, with many people applauding the women for standing up against the PHCN officials.
Nigerians have faced poor power supply in the last three months. Two days ago, the Minister of Power apologised for the situation and assured that electricity supply would improve within two weeks.
