Afrobeat musician, Femi Kuti, has said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is not the main problem facing Nigeria, arguing that institutional corruption remains one of the country’s biggest challenges.
Kuti made the remarks during a recent episode of the GoodNews Naija podcast, where he spoke about corruption, governance and the role of public institutions in Nigeria.
He argued that the judiciary should have been strong enough to prevent anyone facing serious allegations from contesting for public office.
According to Kuti, the fact that Tinubu was able to contest despite allegations against him points to deeper institutional problems within the country.
He said Nigeria would have been better served if men and women of calibre and integrity were in positions to prevent such situations.
Kuti maintained that corruption was deeply rooted in Nigeria and affected several sectors of national life, with people in leadership positions across institutions often coming from the same political and economic elite class.
He added that systemic corruption had contributed to growing frustration among young Nigerians and could weaken their confidence in the future of the country.
