A massive turnout was recorded in Ede on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, as Osun West Senatorial aspirant, Chief Peter Ogundeji, popularly known as Apata, led a “Walk-to-Live” rally in support of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji.
The rally, described by the organiser as the “mother of all rallies,” drew participants from across communities, with party leaders from Ejigbo, Ede North, Ede South, and Egbedore, including supporters and residents trooping out in large numbers to show solidarity ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
Addressing journalists, Peter Ogundeji Apata described Ede as a politically significant location, noting that the turnout in the hometown of the incumbent governor reflects growing support for the APC and its candidate.
He said the rally forms part of ongoing grassroots mobilisation efforts across Osun West, adding that similar engagements had earlier been held in Irewole, Ayedade and Isokan local governments.
Ogundeji stated that the enthusiasm displayed by residents signals a strong desire for change, expressing confidence that the APC would secure victory in the forthcoming election.
He also used the occasion to reaffirm his senatorial ambition, disclosing that he had met with APC leaders in the district to present his intention to contest for the Osun West senatorial seat.
The aspirant outlined a six-point agenda centred on economic empowerment, agricultural development, social welfare, infrastructural development, and responsive representation.
He assured that, if elected, he would sponsor people-oriented bills, move motions that reflect the needs of the masses, attract federal projects to the district, and actively represent the interests of Osun West at the national level.
Apata emphasised that he would not be a passive lawmaker but would contribute meaningfully to national discourse while prioritising the welfare of his constituents.
Speaking on the governorship race, he described APC candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, as credible and experienced, expressing confidence in his capacity to govern the state effectively.
Apata assured that an APC-led government would improve the state’s socio-economic conditions, stressing that the party remains committed to delivering better governance for the people.
Also speaking, Chairman of Ede South Local Government, Hon. Kolawole Salami, described the rally as a reflection of the growing acceptance of the APC in the area.
He noted that the turnout in Ede, despite being the home base of the incumbent governor, indicates widespread support for Oyebamiji’s candidacy.
Salami commended Apata for organising the rally, describing it as a strategic move to galvanise support and strengthen grassroots mobilisation ahead of the election.
He added that the development demonstrates the readiness of APC supporters in the constituency to secure victory for the party at the polls.
In his remarks, Osun West Senatorial Youth Leader, Mojeed Adekunle, said the rally was part of a series of mobilisation activities organised across the federal constituency.
He expressed optimism that the APC would emerge victorious in the August 15 governorship election, noting that the turnout reflects the growing support base of the party.
Adekunle reiterated the commitment of youths in the district to support Oyebamiji, adding that the mobilisation efforts would be sustained until the election.
