Mrs. Deborah Mbara, the woman whose cancer report was allegedly doctored by controversial relationship expert Blessing CEO, has broken her silence over the incident.
Her reaction comes hours after the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) called for the arrest of Blessing over allegations of altering a medical report belonging to a cancer patient.
Reports indicate that Blessing CEO had earlier shared a medical report online to support her claim of having stage 4 breast cancer while soliciting financial assistance from the public.
The report, said to have been issued by Xinus Medical Diagnostics and signed by Dr. O.A. Odigwe, a consultant pathologist, was later alleged to have been altered.
In response, Xinus Medical Diagnostics accused Blessing of manipulating the document, stating that the original report was issued to Deborah Mbara in May 2025.
Reacting in a video posted on her Instagram page, Mbara, a make-up artist and cancer survivor, explained that she had previously met Blessing CEO in Asaba, where she worked as her make-up artist.
She said that following Blessing’s recent claim of battling cancer, she and others had reached out to support and encourage her, including connecting her with a medical professional.
Mbara stated that during their conversation, Blessing requested her medical report under the pretext of comparing it with her own, and she obliged without hesitation.
She, however, expressed shock after discovering that her report had been altered and circulated online to support what she described as false claims used to solicit funds from the public.
Mbara further alleged that despite denying any prior relationship publicly, Blessing later visited her husband and family in Asaba to apologise.
According to her, her husband advised Blessing to make a public apology and explain the circumstances surrounding the incident.
She described the development as unfortunate, stating that she had only intended to help someone she believed was in need.
The lady said, “Sometime last year, Blessing CEO was in Asaba, and I was her makeup artist. Fast forward to last week, when she started crying that she had cancer, and sold off her properties. My friend reached out to her to check up on her. And we even got a doctor on the call to help us educate her and encourage her. I was telling her how God saw me through my own, and the scars.
“Then she said, ‘Zazi, can you just please help me send the report of when you were diagnosed so I could compare it with the one my doctor gave to me. And I said ok no problem. Only for me to see it on the Internet on Friday that it was my result that she doctored to back up the nonsense and money people were donating to her.
“She said she doesn’t know me and has never spoken to any of my family. But she was in Asaba on Monday to beg my husband and my family. And my husband told her to tender a public apology on social media and confess how everything happened. I thought I was helping someone in need, not knowing she had a different agenda. This is evil.”
