An aspirant in the All Progressives Congress, APC, senatorial race in Osun West, Alhaji Bashorun Waliyullahi Adebayo Rovet, has withdrawn from the contest ahead of the party primary.
Rovet announced his decision in a statement issued after what he described as extensive consultations with political leaders, stakeholders, elders, mentors, supporters, and party members across Iwoland and the entire Osun West Senatorial District.
According to him, the decision to step aside from the race was taken in the interest of party supremacy, internal harmony, unity, peace, and the overall progress of Iwoland and Osun West Senatorial District.
The APC chieftain stated that collective interest must take precedence over personal ambition, stressing that preserving the unity and stability of the party remained critical to achieving the aspirations of the people.
He appreciated political associates, party faithful, youths, women groups, friends, and supporters across the district for their support, encouragement, and sacrifices throughout his aspiration.
Rovet also urged his supporters and loyalists to remain calm and committed to the ideals of the APC while working for the peace, development, and prosperity of Osun West Senatorial District and Osun State at large.
He further prayed for divine guidance and success for the party and the people of the state.
The statement reads, “After extensive consultations with respected political leaders, stakeholders, elders, mentors, supporters, and loyal party members across Iwoland and the entire Osun West Senatorial District, I have taken the difficult but necessary decision to step down from the race for the position of Senator representing Osun West Senatorial District.
“This decision was reached in the overall interest of our great party, with utmost respect for party supremacy, internal harmony, unity, peace, and the continuous progress of Iwoland and Osun West Senatorial District as a whole.
“As a committed party man and believer in democratic values, I recognize the importance of collective interest above personal ambition. It is my conviction that, at this critical moment, sustaining the unity and stability of our political family remains paramount to achieving the greater aspirations of our people.
“I sincerely appreciate the overwhelming love, encouragement,sacrifices, and support extended to me throughout this aspiration by political associates, party faithful, friends, youths, women groups, and supporters across the district. Your confidence in my leadership and vision will forever remain deeply valued and appreciated.
“I urge all my supporters and well-wishers to remain calm, steadfast, and committed to the ideals and objectives of our great party as we continue to work together for the peace, development, and prosperity of Osun West Senatorial District and Osun State at large.
“May Almighty Allah continue to guide and bless our collective efforts toward building a stronger, united, and more prosperous society.”
