United States President, Donald Trump, has again urged Iran to reach an agreement before his Tuesday deadline, warning of severe consequences if a deal is not secured to end the ongoing conflict.
Trump, who made the remarks in a post shared on his Truth Social page, warned that failure to reach an agreement could lead to catastrophic destruction, including the loss of an entire civilization.
He also suggested that recent developments could lead to a change in Iran’s leadership, expressing hope that a new direction with less radical leadership might create an opportunity for a positive outcome.
The US president described the moment as critical in global history, noting that decades of alleged extortion, corruption, and violence could come to an end depending on the outcome of the situation.
Trump further expressed concern over the potential consequences of the crisis, stating that while he does not desire such an outcome, it remains a possibility if no agreement is reached.
He wrote, “A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again. I don’t want that to happen, but it probably will,
“However, now that we have complete and total regime change, where different, smarter, and less radicalized minds prevail, maybe something revolutionarily wonderful can happen, who knows?
“We will find out tonight, one of the most important moments in the long and complex history of the world. Forty-seven years of extortion, corruption and death will finally end. God bless the great people of Iran!”
He had earlier threatened to strike civilian infrastructure targets across Iran if the country fails to allow free passage through the Strait of Hormuz by 20:00 EDT on Tuesday.
