Gunmen have abducted the younger sister of former Minister of Power and All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant in Oyo State, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, along with her twin children in Ibadan, the state capital.
The incident reportedly occurred on Wednesday morning at the Elewura area of Challenge in Ibadan South-West Local Government Area of the state.
Confirming the development, one of Adelabu’s media aides, Femi Awogboro, disclosed that the victims were attacked and whisked away by armed men while travelling out of the area.
According to him, Adelabu’s younger sister and her twin children, identified as Peter and Paul, were heading towards the expressway when they were intercepted by the kidnappers and taken to an unknown destination.
The abduction has heightened concerns over insecurity in Oyo State, coming barely weeks after the kidnapping of more than 40 teachers and students during an attack at Ahoro-Esiele in Oriire Local Government Area.
Witnesses had disclosed that the attackers arrived in a blue Micra vehicle and forcefully took the APC chieftain away, an incident that generated concern among residents and political associates.
As of the time of filing this report, security agencies had yet to issue an official statement on the latest abduction involving Adelabu’s family members.
