Fresh political permutations have emerged in Osun State following the entry of Femi Oyetola, son of the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Alhaji Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola, into the race for the Osun Central Senatorial District seat under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
This development comes after a group of his friends and political allies purchased the APC senatorial nomination and expression of interest forms on his behalf, signalling growing support for his candidacy ahead of the party’s primaries.
The forms were presented on Sunday in Osogbo by a former Senior Special Assistant to the ex-governor on Student Affairs and Social Mobilisation, Kehinde Ayantunji, who acted on behalf of the Committee of Friends.
Ayantunji disclosed that the group raised a sum of ₦20 million to procure the forms, describing the move as a strategic effort to encourage Femi Oyetola to formally join the senatorial contest.
He noted that the decision was informed by Oyetola’s track record in youth empowerment and political inclusion over the past decade, expressing confidence that he could replicate such initiatives at the National Assembly if elected.
The presentation was made before stakeholders of the APC Youth Wing, who received the forms amid growing calls for increased youth participation in elective positions within the party.
As of the time of filing this report, Femi Oyetola has yet to make an official declaration regarding his ambition, but the development has already sparked discussions within political circles across the state.
