A Facebook user, Aare Feyisayo, has alleged that he was forced to transfer the sum of N200,000 by suspected operatives of the Lagos State Police Command while on his way to work in the early hours of Wednesday.
The incident, according to him, occurred at Ajao Junction when he stopped to pick up a colleague identified as Chinedu.
Feyisayo alleged that he was intercepted by armed men in police uniforms, who double-crossed his vehicle and seized his car keys.
He stated that his colleague was forced out of the vehicle, while he was pushed to the back seat as the officers took control of his car.
He further alleged that the operatives, who were armed and included one wearing a mask, drove him from Ajao Junction through NAHCO Bridge towards Mile 2.
According to him, the officers stopped at Cele Express, where he was allegedly forced at gunpoint to transfer N200,000 into a bank account.
He claimed that immediately the transaction was confirmed, the suspects abandoned his vehicle, boarded a commercial bus and fled the scene.
Feyisayo added that he reported the incident at a police station and provided a photograph of one of the alleged perpetrators but expressed concern over what he described as a lack of prompt action.
When contacted, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adebisi Abimbola, confirmed that the command is aware of the incident and that an investigation is ongoing.
She noted that further updates would be communicated to the public in due course.
