The Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, has criticised the political influence of supporters of former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
Bwala made the remarks during an appearance on Politics Today, a programme on Channels Television, on Wednesday.
He dismissed claims that the Presidency was overly focused on Obi because of the 6.1 million votes he secured during the 2023 presidential election.
According to Bwala, supporters of the Tinubu administration only respond after sustained criticism from Obi and members of the Obidient Movement.
He alleged that a large percentage of the Obidient presence on social media is made up of manipulated bot accounts rather than real individuals.
Bwala explained that those familiar with social media algorithms and digital manipulation would understand the existence of such accounts online.
He further claimed that the actual number of human supporters associated with the movement is relatively small compared to the impression created on social media.
The presidential aide maintained that the online visibility of the Obidient Movement does not accurately reflect its physical presence on the streets.
His comments have since generated reactions on social media, especially among supporters of the former Labour Party presidential candidate.
