The Owamiran of Esa-Oke in Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State, His Royal Majesty, Oba Adeyemi Akanbi Adediran, has joined his ancestors.
The revered monarch was said to have passed on in the early hours of Wednesday, May 6, 2026, marking the end of a notable reign that spanned years of traditional leadership in Ijesaland.
The development was confirmed in a statement issued by the Ijesa Community Development Assembly (ICDA), signed by its Chairman, Asiwaju Olayinka Fasuyi.
The statement described the monarch’s transition as a painful loss, not only to Esa-Oke but to the entire Ijesaland.
According to the ICDA, Oba Adediran’s reign was characterised by dignity, wisdom, and an unwavering commitment to peace, unity, and development within his domain.
The ICDA noted that the late monarch served as a custodian of culture and tradition, while also bridging the gap between modern governance and traditional institutions.
It added that the royal father played a stabilising role in the community, particularly during periods of uncertainty, where his leadership provided guidance and reassurance.
The ICDA further stated that Oba Adediran was deeply committed to community development, supporting initiatives aimed at promoting education, social harmony, and collective progress.
The statement noted that his leadership strengthened communal bonds and reinforced the relevance of traditional institutions in contemporary society.
The passing of the monarch has thrown Esa-Oke and the wider Ijesaland into mourning, with tributes already pouring in from community leaders and indigenes.
The ICDA extended condolences to the royal family, the people of Esa-Oke, the Obokun Traditional Council, and the Owa Obokun of Ijesaland.
It prayed for strength for the bereaved and for the repose of the monarch’s soul.
The statement added that the legacy of Oba Adeyemi Adediran would continue to live on through the values he upheld and the impact of his reign on his people.
