The 2003 set of Baptist Secondary Grammar School, Ola, in Ejigbo Local Government Area of Osun State, has renovated science laboratories and donated 750 exercise books to students as part of efforts to support learning.
The project, sponsored by Prince Okemakinde Bukola, was unveiled during an event held at the school premises on Friday April 7,2026, with stakeholders, alumni and students in attendance.
Okemakinde said the intervention was initiated to restore the standard of the laboratories, which had deteriorated over time despite their previous role in producing successful graduates.
He explained that the alumni decided to come together to revive the facilities in order to enhance practical learning, while also encouraging students to take their education seriously as a pathway to a better future.
Chairman of the Governing Council of the school, Prof. Remi Aworemi, commended the alumni for the gesture, describing it as a welcome development and a reflection of giving back to society.
Aworemi noted that the contribution aligns with the Public-Private Partnership approach, stressing that government alone cannot meet all the needs of educational institutions.
He added that the school has continued to receive support from stakeholders over the years, while calling on the state government to deploy more teachers to improve the quality of education.
The governing council chairman explained that although Parent-Teacher Association teachers have been assisting the school, the presence of more government-employed teachers would significantly boost academic standards.
Also speaking, the President of the Old Students Association and Chairman of the Central Working Committee for the school’s golden jubilee, Rev. Elijah Adejobi, said the intervention was driven by the desire of alumni to complement government efforts.
Adejobi stated that the alumni identified gaps in infrastructure and resolved to address them through collective contributions, leading to the execution of multiple projects within the school.
He listed some of the projects commissioned to include renovated chemistry and physics laboratories, provision of computers, installation of solar lights, and development of a sports facility with a volleyball court.
He noted that the initiatives were carried out with support from partners including the Parent-Teacher Association, school staff and the Baptist Church in Ola.
Adejobi expressed optimism that the improved facilities would enhance students’ learning experience and lay a solid foundation for their future.
An alumnus, Adegbola, also expressed appreciation for the project, urging teachers and students to ensure proper maintenance of the facilities for the benefit of future generations.
The event featured the commissioning of the projects and presentation of notebooks to students, marking another milestone in the efforts to improve infrastructure and learning conditions in the school.
