A 42-year-old married woman, Mrs. Tilewa Olatunde Funke, who was reported missing on Friday, April 3, 2026, has been found in a hotel room in Ondo State with a 55-year-old man identified as Isa Alaba.
Her family disclosed that she left Ilara-Mokin for Akure at about 10 a.m. on the said day but became unreachable afterward, as her phone was switched off.
The development sparked concern among relatives and members of the community, prompting a search effort involving security operatives.
She was later traced to a hotel in the Ugbe-Akoko area, about 124 kilometres from Ilara-Mokin.
Sources familiar with the incident revealed that the woman was not abducted as initially feared but had left on her own without informing her family.
The source added that she was eventually found in the company of the man in the hotel room.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Jimoh Abayomi, cautioned members of the public against spreading unverified information or creating unnecessary panic.
He noted that the situation generated avoidable alarm and led to the diversion of security resources meant for genuine emergencies.
Abayomi also emphasised the need for improved communication within families, stating that many such incidents could be addressed through proper dialogue.
The incident has since generated reactions on social media, with users expressing mixed opinions over the development.
Observers noted that the case highlights how quickly situations can escalate when there is a lack of communication.
They stressed the importance of verifying information before drawing conclusions, especially in sensitive matters involving public safety.
