In a related development, an unidentified Coca-Cola truck driver was reportedly trapped for about an hour after a billboard collapsed on his vehicle during the same downpour.
The incident occurred around 8 p.m. along the Gbongan–Ibadan road, in front of Chicken Republic, Aregbe, Osogbo.
An eyewitness, who identified himself as Sola, said residents in the area combined efforts to rescue the trapped driver.
He noted that the incident demonstrated the compassion of Nigerians, as people quickly mobilised to assist the victim.
According to him, residents made several calls for help and provided equipment, including a welding machine and generator, to aid the rescue operation.
He added that the driver’s survival was largely by divine intervention.
Another eyewitness, however, expressed concern over the delayed response of emergency agencies, particularly the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the police, noting that officials had yet to arrive at the scene more than an hour after the incident occurred.
