The founder of Power City International, Pastor Abel Damina, has advised women who are unwilling to submit to their husbands not to get married.
Damina made the remark while addressing his congregation during a church service.
He described feminism as a positive ideology when it is focused on securing equal rights and opportunities for women in politics, the economy and society.
According to the cleric, the pursuit of equal rights for women is a noble cause that should be encouraged.
He, however, maintained that women who do not believe in submitting to their husbands should remain unmarried, arguing that marriage inevitably comes with some level of submission.
Damina said there was nothing wrong with remaining single for life if an individual was unwilling to accept the responsibilities associated with marriage.
The cleric further argued that some women have taken feminism beyond the pursuit of equality by rejecting male authority while still desiring marriage.
He also linked the issue of submission in marriage to the Christian faith, stating that believers are first called to submit themselves to Christ.
He said “Feminism is ladies fighting for equal rights in society, which is ideal. It’s a very wonderful ideology, and it should be like that.
“If a lady doesn’t want to submit to a husband, don’t marry. It’s not a sin for you to be alone and die single. Don’t marry, because if you marry, you will submit one way or the other,”
