A Nigerian man, Muhammad Kabir, has divorced his wife, Bilkisu, via Facebook.
He announced the divorce in a post on Sunday, June 14, 2026.
“Me Muhammad Kabir, I divorce my wife Bilkisu 3 times divorce. Idiot,” he wrote, seemingly referencing the Islamic practice known as triple talaq, which allows husbands to divorce their wives by saying “I divorce you” three times.
The post generated mixed reactions from social media users, with many taking to the comment section to express their views.
A Facebook user, Ramat Nene, suggested that the woman may have escaped a troubled marriage, stating that she was fortunate to have avoided further difficulties.
She said “I don’t know her
ButKai she dodged a bullet
Congratulations to her”
Another user, Baffah Aliyu Daura, weighed in on the religious implications of the divorce, arguing that under the Hanafi and Shafi’i schools of Islamic jurisprudence, pronouncing three divorces at once is generally regarded as a single divorce, leaving room for reconciliation between the couple.
Daura wrote, “In Hanafi and Shafi’i views, saying three divorces at once still counts as just one, so Bilkisu isn’t fully out yet, and there’s still room to cool down and fix things…”
Also reacting, Inya Andy Obanyi appeared to support Kabir’s decision, saying the man must have had reasons for taking such a step.
Obanyi said, “3 time’s congratulations bro I’m happy for u na u know wetin ur eyes see ”
However, Maryam Usman dismissed the claim in a light-hearted manner, joking that she had never had a co-wife named Bilkisu and therefore could not relate to the divorce announcement.
Maryam wrote, “I disagree with you dear brother. Because i have never had a co-wife that’s named Bilkisu talk more of divorce”
