The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Sadiya Umar Farouq, wanted over alleged criminal conspiracy, abuse of office and diversion of public funds.
The anti-graft agency announced the development in a wanted notice published on its official website on Saturday.
According to the notice, Farouq, 52, is from Zamfara State, with her last known address listed as EN 008, Okpo River, off Agulu Street, Maitama, Abuja.
The EFCC appealed to members of the public with useful information about her whereabouts to contact the commission.
The commission stated that the former minister was being sought in connection with allegations bordering on criminal conspiracy, abuse of office and diversion of public funds.
The agency also directed anyone with relevant information to report to any of its offices located in Ibadan, Uyo, Sokoto, Maiduguri, Benin, Makurdi, Kaduna, Ilorin, Enugu, Kano, Lagos, Gombe, Port Harcourt or Abuja.
It further advised the public to contact the commission through its official telephone line, email address or the nearest police station.
Farouq served as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development under the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari between 2019 and 2023.
