A Nigerian man has dragged his wife before the Akwa Ibom State High Court over the paternity of their third child.
According to Akwa Ibom-based journalist and judiciary reporter, Harrison Essien, the petitioner is seeking to establish the paternity of the two-year-old girl, whom he suspects may have been fathered by his wife’s pastor.
The petitioner alleged that the issue came to light after his wife, a nurse at a hospital in Uyo, reportedly developed a close relationship with the cleric while serving as a family nurse.
He told the court that he had cared for the child since birth, noting that she was the gender he desired for a third child, but later began to suspect that he might not be the biological father.
The man further claimed that his wife often left home under the guise of attending night duty but was allegedly traced to a hotel in the company of the pastor.
He also alleged that the cleric, who resides in Uyo, is aware of the child’s existence and has been engaged in WhatsApp conversations with his wife, raising concerns that the child may eventually identify the pastor as her father.

“He told the court that the relationship allegedly began when his wife became the pastor’s family nurse, adding that he only recently discovered he may not be the biological father of the child.
