Gunmen have abducted a local government official, Joseph Kayode Aladesuyi, at a poultry farm in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State, with the kidnappers reportedly demanding a ransom of N100 million for his release.
Aladesuyi, who serves as Secretary of the Okeluju Local Council Development Area in Akoko North-West Local Government Area, was abducted on Monday morning, March 9, 2026, at a farm located along Kajola Road.
Reports indicated that the gunmen also kidnapped a female victim identified as Esther Akinlolu during the attack.
Family members later confirmed the abduction in a message circulated on Tuesday morning, informing associates that Aladesuyi had been taken by gunmen a day earlier.
According to the family, the kidnappers subsequently contacted them and demanded N100 million as ransom for his release.
Aladesuyi, who hails from Irun Akoko, is also the Chief Executive Officer of JOTINA Farms according to sources was reportedly the primary target of the attack.
One of the sources, who pleaded anonymity, said: “Another kidnapping occurred at Ilu-Abo in Akure today. Three victims include Mr Joseph Kayode Aladesuyi, an Irun-Akoko born, Akure-based politician and agro-investor, CEO of JOTINA Farms.
“We believe Joseph was the target of the kidnappers because the gunmen shot in his direction and one of the bullets hit a family member on the farm. Kindly join us in praying for their immediate release from captivity.”
The development comes shortly after Aladesuyi publicly praised the administration of Bola Tinubu, stating that the president had taken steps to address insecurity in the country through reforms, anti-corruption measures and collaboration with international partners.
Security agencies are yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident as of the time of filing this report.
