The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Osun State, Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, has paid a courtesy visit to the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Sharing details of the visit on his social media page, Oyebamiji said he appreciated the First Lady for her unwavering support for President Bola Tinubu and her contributions to national development through initiatives targeted at women, children and other vulnerable groups.
The APC candidate also thanked Mrs Tinubu for what he described as her steadfast encouragement and support for leaders and members of the APC, particularly in Osun State, ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
He said the First Lady’s goodwill, prayers and words of encouragement had strengthened his resolve to work for the progress and prosperity of Osun State.
Expressing confidence ahead of the poll, Oyebamiji said he believed the APC would secure victory with the support of the people, the grace of God and the collective commitment of party members, promising responsible, inclusive and people-centred governance.
He wrote, “Today, I had the distinct honour of paying a courtesy visit to Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, at the State House, Abuja.
“I expressed my heartfelt appreciation to Her Excellency for her unwavering support for His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and for her remarkable contributions to national development through her compassionate leadership and impactful initiatives, particularly those that continue to uplift women, children, and other vulnerable members of our society.
“I also thanked Her Excellency for her steadfast encouragement and support for leaders and members of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), especially in Osun State. As we approach the August 15 governorship election, I deeply appreciate her goodwill, prayers, and words of encouragement, which have further strengthened my resolve to work tirelessly for the progress and prosperity of our dear state.
“I remain confident that, with the support of the good people of Osun State, the grace of God, and the collective commitment of our party, we shall secure victory at the polls and usher in a new era of responsible, inclusive, and people-centred governance.
“I pray that Almighty God will continue to bless Her Excellency with good health, divine wisdom, and renewed strength as she continues to serve our nation with grace, dignity, and distinction. May her exemplary service continue to inspire hope and a brighter future for all Nigerians.”
The post, however, generated mixed reactions from supporters and opponents.
Reacting, Sonny Ola Ajayi described the meeting as a picture of two distinguished personalities, expressing confidence that an Oyebamiji administration would usher in prosperity, industrialisation, employment opportunities and investment.
Similarly, Amoo Billy said the biblical passage about a diligent man standing before kings aptly reflected Oyebamiji’s political journey.
Kolawole Shorinade Olukotun prayed for the APC candidate’s victory, while Abduljelili Niniola described Oyebamiji as “the talk of the streets of Osun” and expressed confidence that he would emerge victorious.
Oladredd Semight Adeniyi also declared that “AMBO will happen to Osun,” while Abubakar Adesoji assured the APC candidate of his support.
Adeoye Sodiq Afoye congratulated Oyebamiji on the visit but urged him not to forget Ife East (Modakeke) in appointments if elected governor.
Also reacting, Segun Seriki Shoms alleged that no matter the efforts to manipulate the election, the APC would not succeed in Osun State.
Hon. Babatunde Maayo also dismissed the significance of the visit, insisting that it would not change the political situation in the state and declaring support for Governor Ademola Adeleke’s second-term ambition.
