The Asiwaju Musulumi of Yorubaland, Edo and Delta States, Asiwaju Khamis Olatunde Badmus, has described the rescue of the 44 students and teachers abducted by bandits in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State as proof of the Federal Government’s capacity to tackle kidnapping and banditry across Nigeria.
He made the remarks in a statement issued to journalists in Osogbo, Osun State.
Asiwaju Badmus, who expressed joy over the rescue, commended the nation’s leader , President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the various security agencies, and the Oyo State government for ensuring that the victims were brought back safely.
The business icon called on the government to ensure that the victims received adequate care to erase the trauma they must have experienced in the forest with the bandits, while the nightmare lasted
He also suggested that there is a need to pay special attention to the immediate family of the teacher , Mr Oyedokun, who was murdered by the bandits at the infancy of the attack. He said his wife and family should be rehabilitated emotionally and materially as the teacher was the breadwinner for his family
Asiwaju khamis Olatunde Badmus called on all leaders and the people in Yorubaland to cooperate with one another and the government to forestall a re occurrence of the unpalatable development.
He also advised the federal government to ensure that all other Ñigerians in captivity in any part of Nigeria are released , treated, and reunited with their loved ones.
