Factional presidential candidate of the Accord Party in the forthcoming 2027 general elections, Chris Imumolen, has denied pledging allegiance to Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke.
Speaking during an interview on Arise Television’s Day Break programme on Thursday, Imumolen said he had no objection to anyone aspiring to political office.
He explained that his primary concern was ensuring that due process is followed within the Accord Party and that its internal disputes are resolved through the courts.
Imumolen stated that he had not declared support for Governor Adeleke, stressing that his position was not against any individual seeking elective office.
According to him, his interest is to ensure that the party follows the proper procedures so as not to produce a candidate whose election could later be jeopardised by irregularities.
He maintained that the Accord Party should avoid circumstances that could lead to a governor losing office as a result of flaws in the process that produced the candidate.
The factional presidential candidate further said he was focused on reclaiming the party’s national chairmanship position, which he claimed to have legitimately won, through the judicial process.
He added that the matter is before the court and expressed confidence that the legal process would determine the rightful leadership of the party.
According to him, “I have not pledged any personal allegiance to Governor Adeleke.I have no issue with anyone aspiring to political office.
“My only concern is ensuring that the right process is followed in Accord, so the party does not produce a governor who could lose office over irregularities.
“Accord does not produce a governor who would eventually lose the seat because of some inappropriate process which have brought the person in.
“I’m only trying to make sure that the chairmanship position of Accord, which I rightfully won is gotten back through the right process, which is the court.”
