A man identified as Ajayi Rogba has been reportedly shot dead in Esa-Oke, Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State.
It was gathered that Rogba was an indigene of Esa-Oke and an active member of the Accord Party, and among those involved in preparations for a political rally scheduled to hold in the town on Wednesday.
According to report, Rogba was shot near his father’s residence on Tuesday evening and later died from the injury.
It was also gathered that the deceased was married and survived by four children.
Reacting to the incident through his official social media page, Adeleke’s Campaign Council spokesperson, Pelumi Olajengbesi expressed sadness over the loss, describing it as one of the most painful experiences of his political career.
He also called for justice and urged that those responsible for the killing be held accountable through lawful means.
The campaign spokesperson further stated that the incident would not deter members of the party from continuing their political activities, adding that the memory of the deceased would be honoured.
He wrote, “Kindly also know that I Pelumi Olajengbesi is not one of those cowards, I will follow you up even in your dreams.
“Esa Oke! Great people with a great history. What has happened to us?
“I am deeply pained because this tragedy occurred today, the very day we announced our visit to Esa Oke. One of our major planners lost his life this evening after deciding to stand up for what he believed in.This is the most painful experience of my political life.
“This is Rogba, an Accord member in Esa Oke. He was an innocent man. An indigene of Esa Oke, killed in front of his father’s house just because he believed in my aspiration.
“We were making plans for tomorrow’s Accord rally when he was shot in the neck and lost his life tonight by Thugs.He is married with four kids.
“No family should have to endure this kind of pain. Every innocent life matters, and those responsible for this deadly act should know that they will give account one day.
“We will not abandon our people. We will continue our work and honour the memory of those who have lost their lives by pursuing justice through lawful means.”
As of the time of filing this report, the Osun State Police Command had yet to release any official statement regarding the incident.
