Young Progressive Party has held its South West Zonal Summit in Ibadan, Oyo State, with party leaders and stakeholders across the region reaffirming their commitment to strengthening the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to the statement issued YPP Osun chapter Publicity Secretary, Comr. Animasahun Saheed Akorede, the summit, held on May 9, 2026, brought together state chairmen of the party from Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ondo and Ekiti states, alongside other key stakeholders of the party.
Also present at the summit was the party’s presidential aspirant, Julius Olajide Filani, who presented his vision for Nigeria to delegates at the gathering.
Speaking during the summit, Filani unveiled his agenda themed “Making Nigeria Great Again,” with focus on agriculture, healthcare and education.
The presidential aspirant said his administration would prioritise agricultural development through mechanisation, improved access to credit facilities for smallholder farmers and the expansion of agro-industrial value chains aimed at boosting food security and job creation.
He also proposed a nationwide free primary healthcare programme targeted at reducing out-of-pocket medical expenses and improving healthcare access for low-income Nigerians.
On education, Filani pledged to implement policies that would guarantee free and quality education at the basic and secondary school levels while also expanding access to tertiary education through scholarships and infrastructural investment.
Party leaders at the summit also resolved to intensify grassroots mobilisation, voter education and membership drives across the South West zone ahead of the 2027 polls.
The stakeholders further advocated issue-based campaigns centred on youth empowerment, economic growth and good governance.
Delivering the closing remarks, the Chairman of the YPP in Osun State, Olalekan Enoch Ogunsakin, urged party leaders across the region to work towards what he described as a “ballot revolution” in their respective states.
Ogunsakin stated that the Osun State chapter of the party remained committed to reshaping the political landscape of the state and improving the welfare of residents.
He also called on Nigerians to reject what he described as outdated political practices allegedly sustained by corrupt political parties.
The South West leadership of the party commended the Oyo State chapter for hosting the summit and appreciated delegates for their participation.
