More details have emerged regarding the death of popular Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo.
The actor’s death, which became public on Tuesday, came as a shock to many of his colleagues and fans across the entertainment industry.
Reacting to questions surrounding the cause of the actor’s death, Nollywood filmmaker Stanley Ontop disclosed that Ekubo had been battling stage 4 liver cancer since 2024.
In a post shared on his Instagram page on Tuesday evening, Stanley stated that the late actor underwent treatment and later had a liver transplant in an effort to manage the illness.
According to him, Ekubo briefly returned to work after the procedure before his condition worsened again following complications linked to the transplanted liver.
He explained that the actor’s health later deteriorated until his eventual death.
Stanley also appealed to the public to avoid spreading unverified information concerning the circumstances surrounding the actor’s illness and death.
He further disclosed that the remains of the late actor had been deposited in a morgue, while urging people to allow the family to mourn privately during the difficult period.
