The campaign council of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has said the governor’s popularity among residents is enough to secure his re-election in 2026 even without extensive campaign billboards and posters across the state.
The Director-General of the campaign council, Senator Olalere Oyewumi, stated this on Sunday during a press briefing held to announce the opening of the Imole Campaign Media Centre in GRA, Osogbo.
Oyewumi said Governor Adeleke continued to enjoy widespread support from residents of the state, noting that many people had already identified with his second-term ambition through their support and endorsement.
He maintained that the destruction of campaign materials would not affect the governor’s electoral chances, stressing that Adeleke’s acceptance among the people remained stronger than physical campaign materials.
The campaign council director-general also commended residents of the state for their support, prayers and cooperation since the governor assumed office on November 27, 2022.
According to him, the administration has continued to receive goodwill from different sectors, including the media, which he said had contributed to sustaining development and progress in the state.
Oyewumi further called on security agencies, particularly the Nigeria Police Force, to remain professional and avoid partisanship in their operations ahead of the governorship election.
He also condemned the killing of an Accord Party member, Kolade Eluyera, in Ikire, Irewole Local Government Area of the state, and urged security agencies to arrest those responsible for the incident.
The campaign DG stressed that no political ambition should result in the loss of lives and appealed to security agencies to remain neutral and proactive in maintaining peace before and during the governorship election.
