Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has declared that his re-election in the August 15 governorship poll is certain, expressing confidence that both divine backing and popular support will secure his return to office.
The governor made the declaration on Tuesday in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed.
Adeleke stated that the opposition’s efforts to unseat him would not succeed, insisting that the people of Osun State have resolved not to return to what he described as past misrule.
He made the remarks while addressing leaders of the Transport Management System at the Imole House, where he highlighted the achievements of his administration across key sectors.
The governor said his government has recorded significant progress in education, healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure, and the digital economy.
He noted that residents of the state are in a position to assess his performance, having experienced previous administrations and his current leadership.
According to him, the people remain the ultimate judges of his administration’s impact, adding that his government has delivered across all regions of the state.
Adeleke also accused the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) of attempting to weaken his administration through financial means.
He alleged that funds meant for local government workers were diverted, but maintained that his government has remained resilient despite the challenges.
The governor expressed confidence that those responsible for alleged financial mismanagement would be held accountable.
He added that his administration is focused on rebuilding the state and consolidating on its achievements.
Also speaking, music star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, urged residents to support the governor’s re-election bid.
He said the governor has performed creditably and deserves another term in office, calling on supporters to mobilise for his candidacy.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Motorcyclists’ Wing of the Transport Management System, Sikirulahi Ayobami, commended the governor’s projects and programmes.
Ayobami said members of the association have benefited from the administration’s policies and would continue to support the governor across the state.
Part of the statement reads, “The people are our witness when it comes to performance in office. Our government has positively touched all sectors and regions of the state. The people who voted us into office have severally confirmed our excellent deliveries in the last four years.
“Our people experienced the APC times; they are comparing our tenure with the locust years of the APC. By God and man, I will be re-elected to continue the good job we are doing for Osun people.
“The opposition APC seeks to crash our government through financial strangulation. They diverted over N300 billion of local government funds, money meant for local workers. Despite their evil act, our government survives.
“We are sure that those squandering LG funds will end up in jail. Those inflicting untold hardship on the Osun people will have their days of reckoning. We have delivered to our people, Osun won’t go back to the dark days.
“The APC destroyed Osun state during their days in office. Our government is rebuilding what they destroyed; yet the APC is seeking power through the backdoor. The opposition has failed”.
