Presidential aspirant, Peter Obi, has vowed that he will serve only one term of four years if elected, stating that he would not extend his tenure even if coerced.
In an interview with News Central, Obi, who has joined the Nigeria Democratic Congress to contest the party’s primary, reaffirmed his commitment to political stability.
Obi stated that he intends to serve only one term as president in the interest of stability and insisted that he would not remain in office beyond four years under any circumstance.
The former presidential candidate of the Labour Party came third in the 2023 presidential election and is currently positioning himself for another presidential bid in 2027.
Reports have also indicated a possible alliance between Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso ahead of the 2027 general election.
Obi, who is seeking to clinch the presidential ticket of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, reiterated during the interview that he would not spend more than four years in office even if pressured to do so.
He previously contested the presidency in 2023 under the platform of the Labour Party and finished third in the poll.
