Teachers and staff of Community Secondary School, Adagwa, in Rivers State, were reportedly attacked and beaten by youths, leaving several persons injured.
It was gathered that the crisis began after a teacher allegedly disciplined two SS3 students who were said to be disrupting classes with loud music during school hours.
According to reports by The Sun, the teacher was allegedly assaulted during the incident, after which some youths reportedly invaded the school premises, throwing the environment into chaos and violence.
It was further learnt that staff members of the school were allegedly beaten and forced to flee into nearby bushes for safety, while roads leading out of the school were blocked.
Several staff members were said to have sustained injuries, while concerns remained over the whereabouts and safety of others.
A Facebook user, David C. Oguzie, shared videos and photos of one of the affected students, whom he identified as his younger sister.
In a post shared on Facebook, Oguzie accused a newly transferred English teacher of assaulting his sister over an offence she allegedly knew nothing about, while claiming that those who committed the act were allowed to go free.
He also called on the government to intervene in the matter, expressing fears over the safety and wellbeing of his sister.
