Veteran actor Yinka Quadri, a close friend of the late Yoruba actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has revealed what the actor told him during his final hours at the hospital.
Ogogo died from stage-four cancer on Sunday and was buried at his hometown in Ilaro, Ogun State, the following day.
Yinka Quadri was seen in tears during Ogogo’s burial and has now spoken about his final moments with the late actor.
In a lengthy Instagram post on Wednesday, Quadri described Ogogo as his twin brother from heaven, saying they were born to different mothers.
Quadri recalled visiting Ogogo at the hospital shortly before his death and said he could not hold back his tears when he saw his friend on his sickbed.
According to him, Ogogo noticed his tears and reassured him that nothing bad would happen to him, prompting Quadri to respond with a prayer.
Quadri also recalled that Ogogo asked him to hand him a bottle of water from a nearby table, which he drank.
He said Ogogo then pointed out that he was able to drink the water despite having eaten earlier that morning.
Quadri added that Ogogo asked the doctors to confirm whether he had eaten that morning, and they confirmed that he had.
Yinka said, “I will never forget the last time I saw you at the hospital. You were lying on your sick bed, and when I saw you, I could not hold back my tears. You looked at me and said, ‘Yinka, don’t cry. Nothing bad will happen to me.’ And I responded, ‘Yes, Amen.’
“A few minutes later, you asked me to give you the bottle of water on the table. I gave it to you, and you drank from it. Then you looked at me and said, ‘Yinka, can you see that I drank the water, even though I ate this morning?’ You asked the doctors to confirm whether it was true that you had eaten that morning, and they confirmed it.
