Adeleke
Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has declared Tuesday, July 28, 2026, a work-free day for all categories of public servants in the state to enable them collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
In a statement signed by the spokesperson to the Governor, Mallam Olawale Rasheed on Monday, the directive also applies to local government workers, staff of tertiary institutions and other categories of public servants.
The approval was conveyed in a circular issued by the Head of Service, Elder Ayanleye Aina, who said the work-free day was intended to enable public servants fulfil their civic responsibility ahead of the forthcoming governorship election and future elections in the state.
The circular, however, exempted workers providing essential services, including medical personnel and security officers, advising them to make adequate internal arrangements to ensure uninterrupted service delivery and avoid any adverse impact on residents.
Governor Adeleke also appealed to public servants and workers in the informal sector to take advantage of the opportunity to collect their Permanent Voter Cards without delay.
The governor stressed that the forthcoming governorship election is critical to the future of Osun State, urging all registered voters to visit their designated PVC collection centres as soon as possible.
He reminded residents that the Permanent Voter Card remains the instrument that qualifies every registered voter to participate in the electoral process, describing every vote as a powerful tool for shaping the future of the state.
