The deputy governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Engr. Kayode Adereti, has expressed confidence that the party will emerge victorious in the August 15, 2026 governorship election.
He made this known on Tuesday May 9, 2026 during the party’s “Walk to Victory” mobilisation campaign held across the Ife Federal Constituency.
Adereti stated that residents of the state had already made up their minds to support the APC candidate, Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji, at the poll.
The APC deputy governorship candidate described the party as the preferred choice of the people, expressing optimism that it would reclaim power in Osun State.
Adereti urged eligible voters to come out in large numbers on election day and cast their votes for the APC, noting that the election presents an opportunity for what he described as renewed progress and development in the state.
He also downplayed concerns over recent defections from the party, describing them as internal issues that would be resolved, while insisting that the APC remained united and focused on victory.
According to him, many of those who had left the party were already finding their way back as a result of APC’s strong electoral prospects.
Adereti further said the large turnout recorded during the mobilisation exercise reflected genuine grassroots support for the party and its governorship candidate.
He maintained that Oyebamiji possesses the experience, competence and leadership qualities required to move the state forward.
The APC candidate, he added, would prioritise key sectors such as education, agriculture, healthcare, infrastructure and economic development if elected governor.
Also speaking at the event, a former federal lawmaker, Senator Babajide Omoworare, said the August 15 governorship election was drawing closer, noting that the walk-to-win campaign formed part of the APC’s strategy to mobilise support ahead of the poll.
He described the outing as successful and expressed confidence that the APC would emerge victorious, citing the party’s record in government, its achievements in Ile-Ife and the efforts of President Bola Tinubu.
Omoworare assured residents of a peaceful election, stressing that the APC was not a violent party and remained committed to campaigning for votes through legitimate means.
He added that the people should expect improved service delivery if the APC wins the election, particularly in the areas of education, healthcare, food security and employment generation.
According to him, “Osun residents should expect a peaceful election. We are not a violent party; we campaign to win elections. We will do our best to ensure there is no rigging, and we will win the election. When we win, the people should expect quality service delivery, including good education, healthcare, food security, and employment opportunities, among others.”
In his remarks, the lawmaker representing Ife Federal Constituency, Hon. Taofeek Abimbola Ajilesoro, said APC leaders and supporters in the constituency were fully mobilised for the governorship election.
Ajilesoro expressed confidence that the party would secure victory at the poll and urged members to remain united, peaceful and committed to the campaign.
In his remarks, APC chieftain, Fatai Kolawole, said the crowd witnessed during the rally demonstrated the party’s strength and acceptance among residents of the constituency.
Kolawole described Oyebamiji as a tested and trusted leader, adding that the APC manifesto contains practical plans for education, healthcare, agriculture, rural development and infrastructure.
Another party Chieftain, Otunba Segun Fanibe, popularly known as Oko Arugbo, declared that Ile-Ife and the entire Ife axis remain strongholds of the APC.
Fanibe said the party had maintained relative silence in recent months in the interest of peace but deemed it necessary to publicly reaffirm support for the APC governorship ticket.
He called on party members and supporters to remain patient and steadfast, assuring them that the APC remained united and prepared to deliver development across Osun State if elected.
