Celebrity businessman Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has reacted to his defeat in the All Progressives Congress primary election for the Orsu/Orlu/Oru East Federal Constituency seat in Imo State.
Cubana Chief Priest, who currently serves as the Imo State Coordinator of the City Boys Movement, had contested for the APC ticket to represent the constituency in the House of Representatives.
Reacting in a viral video after the outcome of the primary election, the socialite stated that he had no regrets about participating in the race.
However, he expressed disappointment over what he described as misplaced trust in community elders.
According to him, his major regret was trusting some elders within the community despite the support he claimed to have extended to them.
He further lamented that only 14 delegates voted for him during the primary election.
Cubana Chief Priest had earlier declared his political ambition this year, advocating for what he described as cleaner and issue-based political participation among young Nigerians.
Following his defeat, reactions flooded social media, with some users mocking the businessman and suggesting that he may have underestimated the realities of Nigerian politics.
Reacting to the criticisms, Ossai Ovie Success defended Cubana Chief Priest and criticised those mocking him online.
Ossai stated that there was nothing wrong in contesting and losing an election, adding that people should encourage him instead of ridiculing him over the outcome.
