As political activities gradually gather momentum ahead of the 2027 elections in Osun State, attention has continued to focus on some emerging political figures within Olorunda State Constituency, including Dr Sesan Sanusi.
Observers within the political space in Osogbo have described Sanusi as one of the figures whose profile has grown largely through community-based interventions, youth-focused programmes, and grassroots engagements across parts of the constituency.
Sanusi, who holds a Doctorate degree in Mathematics from the University of South Wales, is also regarded by supporters within the progressive fold as someone with longstanding ties to the political movement in the state.
His late father, Chief G.O. Sanusi, was said to have remained active within the progressive political family until his death in 2017.
Across communities such as Osogbo, Ilie, Oba-Ile, and Oba-Oke, Sanusi has been involved in several empowerment and social intervention programmes over the years.
In 2018, he organised a free medical outreach programme within the constituency, which provided healthcare services to more than 3,000 residents.
During the same governorship election period, he was also said to have deployed mobile medical support teams alongside campaign activities of the All Progressives Congress across parts of Osogbo.
His activities also extended into education and technology development initiatives.
In 2019, Sanusi sponsored the African Code Week programme in Osun State, where students from 16 secondary schools received training in coding and digital literacy.
Through the Kajola Cooperative and Empowerment Scheme, several APC members in Olorunda Local Government were also said to have benefited from interest-free microcredit support.
Educational and ICT-related training programmes linked to him were later organised in schools including Fakunle Comprehensive High School, Osogbo Grammar School, Ataoja School of Science, St. James Grammar School, and Anglican Commercial Grammar School.
In the area of youth empowerment and infrastructure support, Sanusi facilitated rice farming and processing initiatives in 2022 aimed at creating opportunities for young people.
He was also said to have organised cybersecurity training programmes in 2024 to equip youths with digital skills relevant to the evolving technology sector.
Other interventions associated with him in 2025 included the rehabilitation of community boreholes and support for vocational training through the renovation of the Automobile Workshop at the Industrial Development Centre in Osogbo.
In 2026, he coordinated another medical outreach programme that benefited over 1,500 elderly residents across Olorunda Local Government.
As discussions around the Olorunda State Constituency seat in the Osun State House of Assembly continue ahead of the 2027 elections, political observers and supporters within the constituency have continued to reference Sanusi’s grassroots engagements and development-focused activities as factors contributing to his growing visibility in the area.
