A Nigerian cleric, Dr. Solomon Ayodeji Eniola-Oni, has stirred controversy with a string of bold and provocative claims about the country’s political future, declaring that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is “spiritually dead” and calling for the division of Nigeria along regional lines.
Dr. Eniola-Oni, who serves as the General Overseer of God’s Glory Covenant Church International (Agbala Olorire), Shekinah Chapel, said the PDP lost its spiritual relevance following the dramatic exit of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who tore his party membership card in 2015.
“The only remedy for the PDP is a complete name change or restructuring. Otherwise, the party has no future in Nigeria,” he said.
The cleric also hinted at a looming political shift, claiming that a yet-to-be-revealed party could dislodge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) at the national level. However, he refused to name the party, describing it as a “suspense” revelation.
In one of his most controversial remarks, Dr. Eniola-Oni argued that Nigeria’s unity is unsustainable, claiming divine instruction that the country should be separated along the River Niger and River Benue.
According to him, “Nothing good can come out of Nigeria” unless it is restructured into regions or allowed to break apart entirely. He added that even the best efforts of the current government may fail due to what he described as a “curse” on the nation.
The cleric further alleged that Nigeria’s foundation was laid on “fraud and deceit,” warning that no lasting progress can emerge from such a base. He cited biblical scripture to reinforce his position, insisting that the country’s problems are deeply rooted and spiritual in nature.
He also outlined his political background, having contested the Osun State governorship election under the Democratic People’s Party (DPP) in 2018 and later aspired under the Action Alliance (AA) in 2022.
He said he withdrew from the 2026 race under the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), following what he described as divine direction.
Dr. Eniola-Oni also claimed to have foreseen the victory of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke in the upcoming governorship election.
He concluded with a direct appeal to authorities, urging the government to take his warnings seriously, which he insists are divinely inspired.
