A Deeper Life church member, Debby Igbonanwa has sparked a debate after she trolled those who leave certain churches to attend Christ Embassy.
She wrote on Facebook: “You left deeper life, chosen or even watchman to Christ embassy. And yet you are still shouting The Holy Spirit led me’ Ok oh. Your opinion is valid. You were truly led my sister.”
In a previous post, she questioned how a person can leave Deeper Life for another church in the name of spiritual freedom.
According to her, “It’s the attraction to worldliness that can make one leave Deeper Life. Leaving Deeper Life for which church?
“I saw this comment above in the comment section of one of my posts, and I have this to say. There is more truth in this statement than many people are willing to admit.
“Let’s be honest. If someone truly believes that Deeper Life teaches the Bible, emphasizes holiness, and prepares people for heaven, then
leaving because they simply want a more comfortable Christian life should raise serious questions.
“Leaving Deeper Life for which church exactly?
A church that will tell you what you already want to hear?A church where conviction is replaced with convenience? A church where holiness is watered down so nobody feels uncomfortable?
“The truth is, many people don’t leave because they suddenly discovered a deeper revelation. They leave because the flesh gets tired of discipline. They want fewer restrictions, less accountability, and a Christianity that demands less self-denial.
“The Bible says the gate is narrow and the way is difficult. The flesh naturally resists that path.
“Of course, there are people who leave because they were offended, misunderstood, or hurt by individuals. That happens in every denomination, and nobody should pretend otherwise. But being offended by people is different from abandoning biblical convictions.
“If the reason for leaving is simply, “I want more freedom,” then the next question is, freedom to do what? Freedom to obey Christ more? Or freedom to satisfy the flesh? Not every freedom is spiritual freedom.Sometimes what people call “freedom” is simply removing every conviction that makes them uncomfortable. So yes, the question remains valid:Leaving Deeper Life for which church?
“If your next destination teaches less commitment, less holiness, less prayer, less consecration, and more compromise, then it is worth asking whether you are moving closer to Christ—or simply closer to your own desires. That is a question every believer should answer honestly before God.”
