A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Osun West senatorial aspirant, Chief Peter Ogundeji, popularly known as APATA, has called on party members and residents to support the party’s governorship candidate, Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji.
Apata made the call on Monday during the Ramadan lecture titled “Youth as Agent of Positive Change in Politics”, organised by him to mobilise support for the APC governorship candidate ahead of the election scheduled for August 15, 2026, which was held in Ejigbo.
Ogundeji encouraged youth participation in politics while also seeking prayers for the success of Oyebamiji in the forthcoming election.
Chief Ogundeji expressed confidence that if Bola Oyebamiji becomes the governor, Osun will be better and a lot of development will come with it.
He noted that young people currently play a major role in political mobilisation across the state and urged them to remain active in the political process and contribute to the development of their communities.
According to him, “Youth are the backbone of any functioning community or society. So, we want to encourage our youth to come out, participate, and let’s launch out to make our state and our country great again.”
He also encouraged Muslims to take advantage of the Ramadan period to pray for the country and its leaders, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In his lecture, the guest speaker, Sheikh Buhari Musa Ajikobi, called for greater inclusion of young people in leadership positions.
He urged political leaders to give the younger generation opportunities to lead, noting that youth possess the energy and capacity needed for effective governance.
He also appealed to residents of Ejigbo to support Ogundeji’s political aspirations.
Representing the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Dr Adegboyega Oyetola, former Commander of the Amotekun Corps, Shittu Amitolu, urged young people to develop a positive orientation toward national development.
He said youth should focus on education, productivity, and constructive engagement in nation-building rather than social vices or activities that could undermine their future.
In his own remarks, a former federal lawmaker, Senator Mudashiru Hussein, urged Osun residents to use the Ramadan period to strengthen unity and remain committed to the teachings of Islam.
He called on voters in Osun State to remain focused ahead of the governorship election and support the APC candidate, while expressing optimism that the party’s governorship candidate will win.
The event attracted monarchs, Muslim clerics, community leaders, politicians, and party supporters from Ejigbo and neighbouring communities, who gathered for prayers and discussions on youth participation in politics and the forthcoming governorship election in the state.
