The Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has described that he is a billionaire in naira.
Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, dismissed claims that he is a billionaire in United States, US, dollars.
He spoke while responding to questions on ‘Keeping It Real with Adeola Fayehun’ podcast in the US.
The NDC presidential candidate explained that US dollars is the standard used to measure billionaires.
But, according to Obi, he has a billionaire status when his wealth is measured in naira.
Obi explained that billionaire status is typically calculated in dollars, noting that while he does not qualify as a dollar billionaire, he does when his wealth is measured in naira.
He reiterated that dollars remain the standard used globally to determine billionaire status, but stressed that in naira terms, he holds that status, describing it as capital.
Obi is currently in the US for his presidential campaign engagements.
