The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the 2026 Osun State governorship election, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, has called on party members and supporters to remain calm and peaceful following the outcome of the election.
Oyebamiji, in a statement issued on Monday, August 17, thanked APC leaders, members, supporters, volunteers and voters across Osun State for their commitment and sacrifices throughout the election campaign.
The APC candidate acknowledged that the party had hoped for a different outcome in the 2026 Osun governorship election, but said he respected the position of the electoral umpire and fully supported the party’s ongoing review of the election result.
He expressed appreciation to voters who supported his candidacy and believed in the alternative vision presented by his campaign, saying he would continue to cherish their confidence and support.
According to Oyebamiji, although the campaign and election had ended, the values and causes championed during the campaign remained important to the development of Osun State.
He urged APC members and supporters to remain engaged, organised and committed to working for the collective good of the state.
However, the former candidate raised concerns over what he described as a growing trend of hostility and violence against APC members and supporters following the Osun 2026 governorship election.
Oyebamiji alleged that violent attacks witnessed against APC members during the build-up to the election had taken another dimension within the 24 hours preceding his statement.
He therefore called on the Osun State Government, the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies to urgently intervene and arrest what he described as an “ugly trend.”
While urging his supporters to remain peaceful and go about their daily activities calmly, Oyebamiji reaffirmed his pride in the campaign and thanked voters, party members, leaders and volunteers for their unwavering commitment.
He concluded by assuring supporters that the causes and vision promoted during the 2026 Osun State governorship election remained alive, while praying for the peace and development of Osun State and Niger
