The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) governorship candidate in Osun State, Adesina Adeyemi-Doro, has stepped down from the August 15 governorship election and declared his support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO.
Adeyemi-Doro made the declaration on Saturday in Osogbo, the state capital, following consultations with APGA executives across the state. He also pledged the support of his party members and supporters to Oyebamiji in the election.
The APGA candidate said his decision followed his assessment of the candidates and consultations with the state chairman, secretary and other senior members of the party, which led to an alignment with the APC candidate.
He said APGA had resolved to support Oyebamiji and work with him towards securing victory for the APC in the August 15 election.
Responding to the development, Oyebamiji appreciated Adeyemi-Doro for the endorsement and assured APGA members that they would be accommodated and given a sense of belonging in his administration if elected.
Oyebamiji said the APC would work with the APGA members to rescue Osun State from what he described as the current bad government.
The APC candidate also expressed his willingness to engage with members of other political parties, saying such collaboration would help in building a greater Osun State.
Also speaking at the event, Ambassador Issah Adedotun Niniola, Senior Special Assistant on Protocol to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, described Adeyemi-Doro’s decision as a boost to the APC’s chances in the August 15 governorship election.
Niniola commended the APGA candidate for the decision, saying it would contribute to Oyebamiji’s victory and strengthen the APC ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
He also described the APC as the party to beat, linking the development to support for the Renewed Hope initiatives of President Tinubu.
