The Osun State Police Command has summoned the lawmaker representing Osun East Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Francis Fadahunsi, over an alleged threat issued against members of the Accord Party ahead of Saturday’s governorship election in the state.
The spokesperson for the command, Abiodun Ojelabi, confirmed on Wednesday that Fadahunsi had been summoned by the Commissioner of Police in charge of the election, CP Samuel Etaifo.
Ojelabi said the command would issue an official statement on the matter.
The development followed a video that circulated on social media on Tuesday, in which Fadahunsi, speaking in Yoruba, allegedly warned that any Accord Party member seen in Ilesha, Osun State, before Saturday’s election would be killed.
The alleged comment has sparked reactions as political parties and stakeholders intensify preparations for the governorship poll.
The police are expected to provide further details following the senator’s invitation
