Nigerian preacher and marriage counsellor, Reverend Funke Felix-Adejumo, has advised married men not to wear themselves out trying to satisfy their wives, saying no man can completely please a woman.
Speaking during a sermon, the cleric urged husbands to remain responsible in their homes but cautioned against sacrificing their health or lives in the process.
Felix-Adejumo said men should do their best in marriage without placing excessive pressure on themselves, stressing that no one can fully satisfy a woman.
She explained that women naturally desire improvements, using beauty enhancements as an example. According to her, women often replace their natural nails, eyebrows and hair with artificial ones, despite those features being given by God, adding that if God Himself cannot completely please women, no man should expect to do so.
The marriage counsellor encouraged men not to endanger their lives in the pursuit of pleasing their wives, urging them to simply do their best.
Addressing women, Felix-Adejumo advised wives to pursue financial independence rather than relying solely on their husbands for money.
She urged women to have their own source of income so that whatever their husbands provide would serve as an addition rather than their only means of support.
Drawing from the Bible, she referenced the story of Esther, noting that Esther had her own resources, and challenged women to position themselves financially to the extent of being able to surprise their husbands with expensive gifts.
The cleric also shared a personal experience, revealing that she presented her husband with 61 gifts when he celebrated his 60th birthday.
She concluded by encouraging women to build their own financial capacity, saying their lives should no longer depend on waiting for their husbands to provide for every need.
