The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has extended the ongoing collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) at registration areas in Osun State by three days following complaints from voters and large crowds at collection centres.
The commission announced the extension in a press release issued on Tuesday by the Head of Department, Voter Education, Publicity, Gender and Inclusivity, Ariyo Rufus, on behalf of the Osun State Resident Electoral Commissioner.
INEC recalled that the distribution of PVCs at the registration area level commenced on Wednesday, July 22, and was originally scheduled to end on Tuesday, July 28, 2026.
The commission disclosed that a total of 322,822 Permanent Voter Cards, representing 62 per cent of the available PVCs, had been collected during the exercise.
According to the commission, the extension became necessary following complaints from members of the public, large crowds at collection centres and other challenges encountered during the exercise.
INEC said PVC collection at registration areas would now continue until Friday, July 31, 2026, to enable more eligible voters to exercise their civic rights.
The commission added that the extension would not affect the next phase of the exercise, as PVC collection at local government area offices would still commence from August 1 to August 7, 2026.
INEC urged all registered voters who are yet to collect their Permanent Voter Cards to take advantage of the extension and obtain their PVCs before the deadline.
