The National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rauf Aregbesola, has said he governed Osun State for eight years without owning a personal house, describing himself as the first Nigerian governor to do so.
Aregbesola, a former Minister of Interior and former ally of President Bola Tinubu, disclosed in a video message to his followers that he lived in a friend’s house throughout his tenure as governor of Osun State.
According to him, he remained in his friend’s residence during his eight years in office in his home state, maintaining that anyone who doubts his claim should identify any house belonging to him.
The former governor challenged anyone disputing his claim to publicly point to any personal house he owns.
Aregbesola served as Governor of Osun State from 2010 to 2018 before he was appointed Minister of Interior under the administration of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari.
During his administration, Aregbesola said his government was driven by goals aimed at banishing poverty, hunger and unemployment, restoring healthy living, and improving the welfare of the people.
