Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has left Nigeria for a vacation in Europe, with plans to undergo medical examinations as part of the trip.
In a statement issued on Sunday by the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke was said to be travelling to the United Kingdom and other destinations, which would be announced later.
The governor said the vacation would allow him to take a short break and prepare himself for further service to the people of Osun State.
“I am taking a short break to refresh and get further prepared to serve the good people of Osun State,” Adeleke said while departing from the Lagos airport.
Meanwhile, the governor has directed the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs to investigate the emerging dispute over the kingship of Koka town in Obokun Local Government Area.
The directive followed reports of the appointment of another king for Koka Ilase, raising concerns over the existence of two monarchs in the same town.
Adeleke ordered the ministry to examine the circumstances surrounding the development and ensure that due process was followed in line with the state’s chieftaincy law and the traditions of the people.
“I read of another King appointed outside the one on the stool. The ministry is hereby directed to look into the dispute and issue a report to set the records straight,” the governor said.
He also appealed to all stakeholders in the dispute to maintain peace while the ministry carries out the directive.
“Kingship is governed by extant laws and regulations and the government will stand by the law and tradition of our people,” Adeleke added.
