Pastor Peace Ibiyeomie, wife of David Ibiyeomie, has stirred reactions online following comments she made during a Mother’s Day service, where she warned married women against keeping close relationships with divorced women who are unwilling to reconcile with their former husbands or remarry.
The clergywoman advised married women to be cautious about the influence of some divorcees, stating that bitterness from failed marriages should not be allowed to affect other homes.
She urged women to encourage divorced friends or relatives toward reconciliation or remarriage rather than embracing resentment toward marriage.
According to her, some divorced and single women publicly downplay the importance of men while secretly maintaining intimate relationships with them.
She said some women had personally admitted to her that despite their public posture, they were still involved in relationships with men and desired remarriage.
Pastor Ibiyeomie maintained that women who claim men are not important should remain consistent with such beliefs instead of engaging in secret affairs.
She further cautioned women against allowing failed marriages to influence them into destroying other people’s homes, stressing that the kind of company a person keeps could either uplift or negatively affect their life.
The clergywoman also urged women to leave behind positive legacies and avoid actions capable of damaging families and relationships.
Speaking further during the sermon, she condemned women accused of breaking homes and taking over other people’s husbands.
She declared curses on women involved in such acts, praying that they would not enjoy the benefits of the marriages they allegedly destroyed and would face hardship and misfortune.
The sermon has since generated widespread reactions on social media, with many users expressing mixed opinions over the cleric’s comments and the strong language used during the message.
