Property estimated at N50 million was destroyed in a fire outbreak at Spring Valley Estate, Oranmiyan, beside the Arts and Culture Centre, Osogbo, the Osun State capital.
The Osun State Fire Service attributed the incident to a suspected electricity surge.
The Public Relations Officer of the Federal Fire Service, Osun Command, Mrs Omoyemi Ojo, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday in Osogbo.
Ojo said the fire occurred on Sunday evening, adding that the command received an emergency call from one Tunde Balogun at about 5:38 p.m.
She said preliminary findings indicated that an electrical surge was suspected to have triggered the fire.
According to her, firefighters who arrived at the scene found that the blaze was restricted to the kitchen and basement of a five-bedroom duplex used as a residential building.
Ojo said the fire was eventually brought under control with the assistance of the Osun Fire Service.
She added that no casualty was recorded in the incident.
The fire service spokesperson, however, said property estimated at N200 million was successfully salvaged from the fire.
